If there is one thing that is sure, it is that this pandemic has drastically affected students across the world. At the start of it all, we found ourselves in uncharted waters simply trying to stay afloat. We were able to quickly adjust from in-person to online learning - distributing the technology students needed like tablets and access to the internet, in addition to providing daily meals for students and families across our community.
LBUSD teachers and staff were among the first to receive their vaccinations so we could get our students back safely in the classroom. With protocols in place to keep our students safe and healthy, I'm happy to report that Long Beach Unified was the first large urban district in the state to fully re-open for in-person hybrid learning. We continue to provide rigorous instruction to both our 'roomers' and our 'zoomers'.
THERE IS STILL WORK TO BE DONE.
Recovering as a school district, and as a community, in general, has been our first priority and I intend to keep working to reach that goal. This is why I am proud to announce that I am running for re-election as a school board member.
Please join me for a special birthday campaign kick-off on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 6pm. This will be an in-person event and space is limited.
To RSVP, please go to HERE If you cannot attend, but still want to contribute, please go to HERE If you need to mail a check, please make it out to Megan Kerr for School Board and send it to 4508 Atlantic Ave. #178, Long Beach, CA 90807.
I look forward to celebrating with all of you, and to getting this re-election campaign off the ground. I'm so #ProudToBeLBUSD.
All my best,
